TFS 2008 License questions
Considering TFS 2008 Beta 2 was released with a “Go-Live” license I am planning on using that instead of TFS 2005 for a new TFS installation.
I have the following questions.
- Will an in place upgrade to the released version of TFS 2008 be supported by the TFS 2008 installation package?
- If I have purchase a license for TFS 2005 now will I be able to just pay for the upgrade to 2008 when it comes out and how much might that upgrade cost?
- If I have purchase a number of Team Explorer CAL for vs 2005 professional now will I need to purchase an upgrade for each CALS when I switch my users to VS 2008 pro ( I understand I will pay for an upgrade to vs 2008 pro itself).
- Will the TFS 2008 Beta 2 keep working until I install the released version? In other words is there any chance it will expire before the TFS 2008 release version?
I purchased the TFS 2005 server and 20 CALs about two weeks ago and have not yet installed them. If I knew 2008 Beta 2 was coming with a go-live license I would have waited to purchase all of this until 2008 shipped in a couple months.
Thanks
