Trigger happy moderators

Hi,

I think that the moderators are doing a really good job here on the forums, but (there's always a but) I think that you are a little to trigger happy with the "Mark as answer button", I've had to unmark more posts than I've had to mark myself. Maybe we cannot check in every day to read the forums, but I think that we could be given 1 or 2 weeks before a moderator decides if it is the answer or not.

Just a thought

Keep up the good work!

Regards,
Lani

I agree with this. I've had questions that weren't fuly answered and have had them marked as answered. That really kills a thread.

Hi,

I second to that. I think there should be double checks to be made on the answered posts. I think this is a very hard job to do, so I guess the resolution is to send guidelines to existing moderators...

cheers,

Yes a new rash of them just happened a few minutes ago - a whole bunch of premature "mark as answers" just so the moderator can see "all green".

Please do not mark stuff as answers prematurely, until the original poster has a chance to get back to the thread - give at least a day or so.

They do a terrific job and here's my butt.

They move posts around to quickly if they are in the wrong forum. Makes it real tricky to find the post again as you've got no idea where its went. Its understandable that everything is kept in its place and I do not fault them for it but I have no idea if the answer I gave someone to an incorrectly placed post was accurate or if that person could still do with some more feedback.

I hope that doesn't come across as being ungrateful towards their hard work.

<RandomAside>You may end up with a lot of spam from the forum mail bots, but you can track posts that you respond to, or that you are just interested in through the Alert Me option. </RandomAside>

Speaking for myself, if I don't move off-topic posts when I find them, I likely won't ever move them because I'll forget about them. The other downside is that the customer is less likely to get a timely response if we don't move the thread immediately.

It doesn't come across as ungrateful at all, we appreciate all (well.. most :)) of the feedback we get. Cheers!

Derek,

Have a look at the My Forums link at the top of the page. This page contains a link to every single post you have ever posted (with exception to deleted posts - you can't see these).
