KPI Details Web Part - Can I connect the Current User Filter?
Can the Current User Filter be applied against a KPI Details Web Part?
My KPI shows Average Hours worked by a group of employees. The KPI gets the average hours from a Pivot Table in an Excel File, where one of the filters is the employee's Supervisor. I want to filter this down based on the Current User, who would be the Supervisor of some, but not all of the employees in the pivot table. Based on this Current User filter, the Average Hours calculation should vary based on which Supervisor is currently signed into the Site.
Yes you can achieve this provided you have the UserProfile property, either the log in id or the full name in your pivot table as a report parameter. Publish this cell range in Excel services as a parameter and connect your UserFilter web part to the Excel Web Access web part with the respective parameter - Login Id or the FullName. Further if you dont want the supervisor to change the filtering, you can disable the interactivity in the Excel Web Access web part so that only data pertaining to his/her is displayed
I have the parameter defined, and the EWA web part is filtering correctly to show accurate results based on the current User, however, the KPI which gets its value from a cell outside of the Pivot Table, does not change it's value based on the filtering within the Pivot Table. I believe this is because the underlying spreadsheet is not actually being filtered, only the EWA web part. So when the KPI web part gets its data from the Excel file, it is basing the average on all of the employees for every Supervisor.
This is how the pivot table is set up; when collapsed, the user would see only Bill Smith - 38 hours, and Bill Jones - 30 hours rolled up. I do not want my average to include the underlying projects, just the total hours per employee. Currently, my KPI shows 34 hours whether I'm signed in as the Supervisor of Bill Smith, or the Supervisor of Bill Jones.
