Resource Bookings Template for WSS 3.0

We have just installed the new resource booking template for Windows Sharepoint 3.0 and have noticed a few things.

When we make a new booking in a resourced calendar view we can make the booking recurring, but when we go to reserve a resource we cannot! The form produced to reserve a resource is completely different and you can't make the booking recurring or put a description of what the booking is.

Does anyone know of a way to either make it available to make the reservation recurring or to get rid of the "Reserve a Resource" link for the left side bar.

or are we just grasping the proper use of the reserve a resource at all.

any help would be great.
