Incorporating VS workflow into SharePoint Designer workflow

Hi there,

I'm sure I've read somewhere about being able to produce a workflow component in Visual Studio and then use it within a SharePoint Designer workflow. Problem is I can't find where I read it and since I don't know what it's called I'm having problems Googling it - would someone put me out of my misery and either point me to an article or tell me what it's called?
