Unable to choose a display name containing whitespace

For some reason I am not allowed to use my full name Marcel de Vries as my display name. It forces me to use a name wihtout whitespace. I see a lot of other people use whitespaces, so does anybody have any idea whats wrong here?

I looked into this issue with the profile system team. The issue is that the name 'Marcel de Vries' has already been registered and we don't allow duplicate names. Any chance you may have registered this name with a different Passport?

Yes this is very well possible. I used an other passport account a few month ago, but decided to stik with this one in stead.

I will fix it by renaming the display name in my other profile, so I can use it here.
